身为反对党工党的成员,John Biggs强调,自身的工作固然是负责向政府要求更多,“但显然我也明白政府在短时间内能做的事情也有限,总体而言,我觉得伦敦东区从奥运受惠匪浅,我没有太多怨言”。他以金融城以及伦敦东区的地区代表身份参选并获得伦敦市议会的议员席位。“但若以为奥运成功得以举办,就万事大吉,是不可接受的想法。政府作出了很多承诺,未来的20年需要一一兑现。”他说道。
