In order to catch up with European competitors, the United States made some changes to the standard of the safety fieldbus. Developers have also proven that the safety fieldbus can provide all the security features of traditional hardwiring, with lower costs and greater flexibility. ODVA recently developed and added CIPsafety to the Common Industrial Protocol (CIP), an application layer shared by ODVA’s DeviceNet, Ethernet / IP and ControlNet protocols that integrates safety control and standard control. CIPsafety provides the foundation for ODVA’s new DeviceNetsafety, which enables control commands to be delivered over an existing DeviceNet network. This means that the agreement includes security features. Therefore, not the wire in the network to ensure data security; but to deal with the data path to network security. This means that a safety PLC can be both a safety part and a non-safety part.
