First, the world’s copper resources and production The world’s copper reserves have proven 450 million tons of copper, the United States reserves of 20%, 90 million tons of copper. Copper deposits in the United States accounted for 86% of porphyry copper. The major copper deposits are in the five southwestern states of Arizona, Montana, New Mexico, Nevada and Utah, accounting for 90% of the copper, with Arizona accounting for more than half of the copper in the United States.
