AIM: Basal follicle stimulating hormone (bFSH) can stimulate sperm production and promote egg maturation, and is one of the most important hormones in the human body. In this study, the changes of bFSH in IVF cycle and the prediction value of bFSH on ovarian response were investigated in this study, which provides a theoretical basis for clinical research. Methods: The clinical data of 154 patients who underwent in vitro fertilization-embryo transfer (IVF-ET) in our hospital from January 2012 to December 2012 were retrospectively analyzed. According to the level of basal follicle-stimulating hormone, patients were divided into group A (bFSH≥10 IU / L), group B (8≤bFSH≤10 IU / L) and group C (bFSH <8 IU / L). The age, basal antral follicle number (bAFC), luteinizing hormone (LH) content, FSH / LH value, the amount of gonadotropin (Gn), time of use, fertilization rate and clinical pregnancy rate were compared between the three groups. Results: The differences of age, bAFC and FSH / LH between the three groups were statistically significant (P <0.05). There was significant difference between the three groups in the amount of Gn and time, the number of oocytes retrieved and the pregnancy rate (P <0.05). There was no significant difference in basal LH value and superovulation cycle fertilization rate between the three groups (P> 0.05). Conclusion: The basal follicle stimulating hormone (bFSH) has some predictive value on ovarian reserve of in vitro fertilization women. The level of bFSH may be an important index to predict the ovarian response during superovulation cycle in female infertility patients. It is worthy of clinical promotion and application.
