藏传佛教不仅为广大藏族民众所信仰,同时也为蒙古、门巴、裕固、锡伯、普米、纳西、傈僳、土、羌、怒(阿努人)、白(部分)等民族以及摩梭人所信仰;较之西藏、青海、甘肃、四川、内蒙古等省区对藏传佛教音乐的调查、研究,云南可谓起步迟迟。因此,对云南藏传佛教音乐文化的整调查与研究,是对云南全省藏传佛教音乐文化的全面调查、研究“空白”的全面填补,同时也是对该领域研究结果的进一步深化;云南藏传佛教流派纷呈,迄今有噶举、宁玛、萨迦、格鲁四大教派;云南藏传佛教不论在教义、教规、经典上均与西藏藏传佛教保持着高度的一致性,但也存在鲜明的地域特点与音乐特色。

There are many genres of Tibetan Buddhism in Yunnan Province so far, including the Kagyu, Ningma, Sakya and Gelu sects. Yunnan Tibetan Buddhism maintains a high degree of consistency with Tibetan Buddhism in Tibet, both in doctrine, canon, and classics There are also distinctive geographical features and musical characteristics.
