Sweet sorghum is a kind of C4 plant, it has a high photosynthetic efficiency and is the crop of the highest biomass in the world, therefore, it is recognized as “high energy crop[1]”. At present, the use of ion beam mutation breeding technology in improving crop varieties such as cotton, tomatoes, wheat, corn, soybean, tobacco, tea, sweet potato, millet and others has made various degrees of progress[2]. In this study, the two varieties of sweet sorghum, Wray and BJ0601, were irradiated by carbon ion beam with different irradiation doses. The effects of key enzymes activity on sweet sorghum induced by carbon ion beam irradiation were studied to provide a theoretical foundation for mutation breeding of sweet sorghum.
