Julius Maus is a philatelist living in Baden, southwestern Germany. From the late 19th century to the early 20th century, he was keen to collect the actual mailings sent to him from China. Between 1898 and 1912, he commissioned a German friend serving in China to post stamps of the Qing Dynasty or stamps of the post-deregulation period of postal service to him. At present there are about 200 Moss seals remaining in the world, of which the most are sent from Wuzhou, Guangxi, and nearly one hundred are sent to H.Schwelger as the Wuzhou Customs office.
