Joule is a British physicist. On December 24, 1818 he was born in Solford. His father is the owner of the winery. Joule was unable to go to school because he was young and he was weak. He learned winemaking with his father at home, and spent time on chemistry and physics. He was particularly interested in the experiment. Joule can be said to be a self-taught scientist. In 1940 he published an article describing four methods for determining the amount of hot work equivalent. One of them is to use heating wire to heat in water.
