这件朱雀陶灯是前几年从宝鸡周原上的一座大型汉墓中出土的。通高105厘米,底径38.1厘米,由灯座、灯柱、枝盏组成,分三叠层套合而成,上有13个灯盏和24只可承托蜡烛的朱雀状灯枝。此陶灯是模仿汉代大型连枝灯的实用器做成的随葬明器.造型挺拔,装饰华丽,充分显示了古人的高超技艺,堪称我国汉代陶灯的代表之作。灯盘为宽折沿,沿与盘腹中央均等地分布着4个钻孔,用以安插灯枝——朱雀。灯盘的内外壁上绘有黑自相间的弦纹,灯柱外壁绘有白色菱形网格纹,上中下亦有黑色相间的弦纹。灯枝呈各种姿势的朱雀,有的头部稍弯,有的较直,有的颈细长而上扬,有的将腿蜷屈在胸前,有的将腿隐去。灯座大而沉重,象征群峰环抱的山峦,环周层叠堆塑近
