我对江义湛的画作如是解读: 江文湛的绘画,是通过特定物象以表现宇宙自然的生命跃动,从而宣发个人的情绪、志趣,显现自我的人格。 说特定物象,是指江文湛以绘画表现宇宙自然时,并不要——通过宇宙自然中实在的,说此即是此,说彼即是彼的具体物形,让观画者看到什么就是个什么。伏羲要向人类描述和论说世界,明知世界是不可全然形容述说的,仰观玄表俯察群形,天外有天,其大无外,物内有物,具微无内,怎么可以说此即此说彼即彼呢?于是始作八卦,高度概括,通过既非具象而又非西方抽象之“象”,以通神明之德、以类万物之情。于是世界使得以轩松地描述论说了。但江义湛画的是从传统走出来的中国画,他还必须讣观画者在纸上看到具体物象,不能像某些西方现代绘画那样,只让人看线条和色块。只不过他的物象,虽然是一种非写实的具象,和传统绘画一样,禀有直接引起审美愉娱的品格和使命,但这些物象及其组合,却说此不是此说彼不是彼,观画中不通过理性而是通过无意识的生命内律,在画的无形的背后,山画中的有限而体味到画外的尤限。所以,这种特定物象是有着禅意和“易”的品格的。 正因为如此,正因为宇宙物象无限而绘画物象有限,每一具体画家的艺术物象尤其有限,这就需要高度简化,需要效法伏羲的哲学智慧,来创造一种有限
