For a long time, competitive sports in our country have implemented the “three-level system” of amateur sports schools, local teams and national teams. This system has made an important contribution to the development of sports in China. However, in recent years, it has been widely criticized for its drawbacks. After the incident of Zou Chunlan, more and more people began to pay attention to the athletes behind the gold medal, especially after retirement. Due to the lack of culture, they are gradually becoming a special disadvantaged group in society. Based on the analysis of the feasibility of cultivating high-level athletes in China, this paper puts forward opinions and suggestions for cultivating high-tech and high-quality sports talents and promoting the reform and development of sports in China.
