在史学家的笔下,以汉代始经魏晋南北朝至唐代这一段时期,被认定是中国艺术史上的一座巅峰,因为无论就艺术内涵、艺术形式或艺术表现技巧而言,它都居于承前启后,无可取代的地位。但是如果从民族整体艺术的角度来考察,它也未尝不是中国美学史上的一堵断崖,因为我们在唐代以后的艺术史中,再也难得一见象魏晋以前那种素材繁富充满生命力的生动造型,以及以那些造型中散发出的最能体现艺术本质的原朴之美的作品
Under the writings of historians, the period from the Han Dynasty through the Wei, Jin, Southern and Northern Dynasties to the Tang Dynasty was considered to be a peak in the history of Chinese art, because no matter what artistic connotation, art form, or artistic expression techniques it is, it is in the past. There is no substitute position. But if we look at it from the point of view of the nation’s overall art, it is also not a cliff in the history of Chinese aesthetics, because in the art history after the Tang Dynasty, we could hardly see the kind of richness and vitality that existed before and after the Wei and Jin periods. The vivid shapes and the works of the original beauty that best expresses the essence of art in those shapes
