Williams defined tragedy as a special form of textual representation of the bitter experience of human disorder. He defines the tragedy since the modern age as “Liberal Tragedy ”: an experience of the state of disorder caused by capitalism “liberal order ”. Because the capitalist system itself has reached the end of its vitality, the experience of various tragedies about liberalism will inevitably become exhausted. At present, people need a kind of tragedy that is capable of expressing the new disorder experience, that is, the revolutionary tragedy to replace the liberal tragedy. However, there are some obvious theoretical omissions about Williams’s historical necessity of the coming of the revolutionary tragedy and the possibility of its practice.
