Objective To investigate the dynamic changes of plasma endothelin, angiotensin and nitric oxide in patients with acute cerebral infarction and its clinical significance. Methods The levels of endothelin (ET1), angiotensin Ⅱ (AT Ⅱ) and nitric oxide (NO) in 20 healthy subjects and 40 patients with acute cerebral infarction at different periods of acute phase were measured. Results Compared with the healthy group, the levels of ET1, ATⅡ and NO in the patients with acute cerebral infarction began to increase obviously within 3-4 hours of onset, remained high in the third to fourth days, decreased in the first week, decreased to the normal level in the first week, ET1, ATⅡ decreased to normal level after two weeks. Conclusion The plasma levels of ET1, ATⅡ, NO in patients with acute cerebral infarction have dynamic changes and play an important role in the pathogenesis.
