近几年来在钢锭铸造上曾经作了许许多多的研究工作。例如对钢锭圆锥度、涂料的研究;对铸锭后实行震动、压缩的研究;对利用铜模铸造使钢锭急冷却的研究;对盛钢桶和钢锭模实行抽取气体,使之处于近似真空状态的铸造研究;以及连续铸锭的研究等等。为什么对钢锭铸造操作要给以这样多的研究工作,这是每位冶金工作者所十分理解的,所以要对它有这样多的研究,不仅仅是想通过许许多多的研究工作,希图对钢锭自液体到固体的结晶过程有个详细的了解,例如对结晶时间、结晶体、化学成分分布及其他等等;更重要的还在于借资这些研究的结果,来如何消除钢锭在铸造过程所生成的对钢材发生严重影响的各种缺陷,的确,钢锭上的一些缺陷对于钢材的影响确实是大的,由于钢锭上各种各样缺陷的存在,产生着大量的废品,影响着生产任务、按订货合同生产和经济上的巨大损失。为钢的质量而斗争,不但是必须的,而且是繁重而坚钜的任务。
