金属硫蛋白(metallothioneins,MTs)是一种广泛存在生物体内的、进化保守的、热稳定、低分子量的(分子量为6-7kDa)单链多肽。最早是50年前Margoshes作为作一种镉的结合蛋白在马肾脏中发现的。由于它金属含量高且具有独特的分子生物学结构,金属硫蛋白被列为金属蛋白类。1金属硫蛋白的分类和分布金属硫蛋白分为MT-Ⅰ,MT-Ⅱ,MT-Ⅲ和MT-Ⅳ这4种亚型。不同的物种中四种MTs的氨基酸序列显示出明显的多态性。每种类型的金属硫蛋白在不同的细胞组织
Metallothioneins (MTs) are widely occurring in vivo, evolutionarily conserved, thermostable, low molecular weight (6-7 kDa molecular weight) single chain polypeptides. Margoshes was first found in horse kidneys as a cadmium-binding protein 50 years ago.
