Opposed to them was a commission of reduction by the U.S. military, including Jack Kewworthy, the gendarmerie’s military lieutenant. His task was to formally arrest and charge General Yamashita to the New Bilibed Prison. Five months later, Yamashita was prosecuted and sentenced to death, which many people call an absurd wrong decision.
