水电站的机组冷却用水一般引自上游(包括钢管、涡壳等)或下游(包括尾水管、尾水渠),但这样要消耗大量高压水或大量厂用电。为了充分发挥水能效益,节约能源,我们予1977年提出利用中高水头水轮机转轮上密封漏水(即顶盖取水)作为机组冷却用水的设想,1978年结合西洱河一级电站技施设计为该项试验准备了条件,1981年,在上级领导和有关单位的大力支持下,使该项设想在西洱河一级电站首次得到试用,而后又分别在西洱河一级和绿水河电站作了该项试验的水压和流量实测,并获得较为满意的结果。现将试验情况和成果分析介绍如下。
