宁麦7号在1990~1992年南方冬麦区长江中下游(北片)小麦良种区域试验中,两年平均亩产分别为34705kg和42683kg,分别比扬麦5号(CK)增产1576%和212%;在1991~1993年江苏省淮南片小麦良种区试中,平均亩产分别为40120kg和35153kg,分别比扬麦5号增产426%和408%;在1992~1993年江苏省淮南片小麦良种生产试验中,平均亩产38996kg,比扬麦5号增产685%。宁麦7号株高85~90cm,一般每亩有效穗32万左右,每穗40粒以上,千粒重32~34g,容重780~800g/L。成熟期较早,白粒、抗穗发芽。籽粒蛋白质含量和面粉加工品质均好于扬麦5号。高抗梭条花叶病,中抗赤霉病,白粉病及纹枯病较轻。适合江苏淮南及长江中下游种植白皮小麦的地区和梭条花叶病流行区及中低产地区推广应用
