Objective:To examine the level and variation of hypertension as a major health indicator among immigrant groups from Asia.Methods: Utilizing data from National Health Interview Survey in the United States,the multivariate analysis focused on with a heterogeneous background regarding culture,spoken language,religion,and diet.Results: The results indicated that Asian immigrants overall have lower rate of hypertension as compared to the majority non-Hispanic white population of the United States. However,there is strong within group variation that persists after controlling for such factors as education,income and demographic variables.Conclusion: These results suggest the need for further studies particularly with respect to the immigrants from the sub-continent of India.
