Objective: To investigate and understand the sleeping status of recruits in a certain island and its influencing factors. Methods: A random cluster of 1455 recruits in the island was recruited. According to the sleep conditions, there were 196 cases with sleep problems and 1259 cases without sleep problems. The military mental illness prediction scale was used to evaluate its sleep status and its influencing factors were analyzed. Results: There were 196 cases of sleep problems in the survey recruits in the island, the incidence was 15.6%. There were significant differences in predictive scores of mental illness and psychotic, depression, mania, neurosis and personality deviation among those with sleep problems compared with no sleep problems (P <0.01). Multivariate stepwise regression analysis showed that growth experience, family history, introverted personality, poor psychological defense and stressors entered the regression equation with sleep status as the dependent variable (P <0.05, P <0.01). Conclusion: There are some sleep problems in recruits in the island. Growth experience, family history, introverted personality, psychological defense and stressors are the main influencing factors.
