黄自,字今吾,江苏川沙人,是我国上世纪30年代著名的作曲家、音乐教育家。他自幼喜爱音乐,17岁开始系统地接受音乐训练,1924年留学美国,后曾游历英国、法国、德国、荷兰、意大利等国。丰富的阅历加上不懈的努力,使黄自具有广博的知识和多方面的艺术修养。1929年从美国耶鲁大学音乐系毕业后,他放弃了可以留在美国发挥个人音乐才能的前途,怀着 Huang Zi, the word today Wu, Chuansha, Jiangsu, China’s famous 1930s composer, music educator.
