M · MAYER: Like many people, when I first saw your photo, I did not realize that they were completely forged. At first thought they are a bit mean, though it sounds a bit old fashioned and sad. When I was told they were purely set-pieces, the result of painting and sculpture, not photography, they suddenly appeared novel and exciting. Again, they become extremely mysterious because I find it hard to unite the mediocrity revealed by these themes with the sophistication of your creative practice. Then I started to perceive the depth of a critique and the sly humor that made me think more of you as a satirical writer. Does this sound like your work? Or do I explain too much about your intentions?
