苦瓜是一产于南美和亚洲的蔬菜,在这些地区早已用来治疗糖尿病、麻风病、黄疸、风湿和痛风。 作者用这种苦瓜在9名非胰岛素依赖性糖尿病人中进行了血糖和胰岛素浓度的实验研究。比较患者服用苦瓜汁前后的糖耐量试验(YSI分析法)发现苦瓜水溶性提取物可以明显地降低血糖浓度。每天进食0.23kg煎炒苦瓜可以增加糖耐量,结果见表[1]。
Balsam pear, a vegetable produced in South America and Asia, has long been used to treat diabetes, leprosy, jaundice, rheumatism and gout in these areas. The authors used the bitter gourd in nine non-insulin-dependent diabetic patients conducted an experimental study of blood glucose and insulin concentrations. The glucose tolerance test (YSI analysis) comparing patients before and after taking bitter melon juice found that water-soluble extract of Momordica charantia could significantly reduce blood glucose levels. Eating 0.23kg fried bitter gourd daily can increase glucose tolerance, the results shown in Table [1].
