据估计,1985年内燃机铸件产量约占全国铸件产量的1/10,其中球铁占全国球铁产量的1/4,可见内燃机铸造行业在全国铸造行业中占有重要的位置。内燃机中铸件占整机重的80%,因此铸造是内燃机行业的基础,是内燃机行业的身躯。内燃机铸件结构复杂,主要零件如缸体、缸盖、曲轴等在高速、高温、高压下工作,要求铸件内外在质量高,工作可靠,耐久性好。内燃机铸造技术水平,特别是在大量流水生产中往往代表一个国家铸造生产技术及相关材料工业和铸造技术装备工业的发展水平。建国35年来,我国内燃机铸造生产有很大的发展,工艺技术和装备,铸件质量都不断提高,少数工厂的工艺和装备水平以及铸件质量可接近国际先进水平。但是整个内燃机铸造行业目前大约相当于国际五、六十年代水平,相当多的工厂只相当于国际三、四
