PES has attracted growing attentions of both scholars and practitioners,and was seen as an effective tool in securing ecosystem services provision,resulting in many PES frameworks from different perspectives.However,the overall status of conservation and limited PES practices indicate that PES has not fulfilled its role as expected.For improving relevant theories,we first reviews diverse frameworks and consensus concepts in PES studies,and analyses barriers that existing PES frameworks are facing in promoting provision of ecosystem services.
