We have conceived and constructed a multifunctional window that combines solar heat intelligently regulation and solar power generation, using a VO2-TiO2 thin film instead of the TiO2 photoanode material of dye sensitized solar cell (DSSC), where the VO2-TiO2 thin film was prepared by dispersing surface-modified VO2 nanoparticles into TiO2 paste and a followed annealing process.The DSSC component of the window is capable of generating electricity by converting visible light, while VO2 material in the photoanode is able to intelligently regulate the near-infrared region (NIR) light passing through the device with environmental temperature change.Combining DSSC and VO2 based thermochoromic smart window would making full using of the solar energy.Our work inspires a new route for the development smart window.
