The nervous system development is a highly complex, but precisely controlled biological process.During the formation of neural network, the axon of individual neuron needs to be guided to proper site and connect with its target cell.The proper axon outgrowth is regulated by guidance cues.Several kinds of guidance cues have been identified in the past decades: Netrins, Slits, Semaphorins and Ephrins.However, how a fairly limited number of guidance cues pattern the complex nervous system is less understood.
