Synthetic nucleoside analogs are of considerable importance in the search for new structural leads with antiviral and anticancer activity.We have recently designed and synthesized novel triazole nucleosides bearing a multitude of aromatic moieties on the triazole nucleobase using modem green chemical synthesis.1 Various active compounds were identified with potent anticancer activity.2 In particular,they exhibited better activity against drug-resistant pancreatic cancer cells than gemcitabine,the current first-line treatment for pancreatic cancer.3 Further studies showed that these active compounds had apoptosis-related antitumor activity.
