  喷头的设计从农药使用以来经历了非常大的发展,农用喷头不再仅仅为了优化喷雾流量和喷雾角而设计。基于环境安全以及市场需求,现在得喷头设计的目标是追求能够使喷头达到一种特殊的雾化效果以及雾滴谱,使农药达到更佳的防治效果以及对非靶标最小的影响。喷头的制造技术同样取得了非常大的进展,这就使得设计工作能够更加准确的控制雾滴分布来达到市场的需求。多喷头宽喷幅喷雾需要各个喷头能够精确的重叠以产生均匀的雾滴分布。尽管在喷雾过程中喷杆上的喷头与靶标的距离一直发生变化,但是通过对雾型的设计可以使得雾滴在靶标上的分布不变。在过去的10到15年间设计出的低压喷头、充气喷头以及双扇面喷头,使得喷头能够雾化产生特定的雾滴谱。使用者可以通过选择喷头来减小雾滴大小以达到更佳的雾滴沉积,也可以通过增大雾滴大小以减少雾滴的飘失。喷头设计及制造工艺的改进推动了化学农药的使用朝着安全、高效的方向发展。
