Black soil region of Northeast China is one of the most important food production bases and commodity grain bases in China. However, severe soil erosion has led to rapid thinning of black soil and land degradation in the region, which is a direct threat to regional food production and agricultural sustainable development. In this study, control mechanisms of soil and water conservation measures on soil erosion are quantitatively investigated using field plot experiment data. The impacts of slope gradients on the surface runoff and soil erosion under contour tillage were especially analyzed based on the comparative study with the traditional tillage. And the suitable slope gradient was presented. Also, the effectiveness of main soil and water conservation measures was examined by the analysis of interaction effects of slope gradient, rainfall and slope length on the regulation of surface runoff and soil erosion. Thus scientific references are hope to provide for the optimization of the effective soil and water erosion in long sloping farmland areas of black soil region of Northeast China.
