Development of a flexible electroosmotic flow pump using liquid metal

  Injection of room temperature liquid metal into PDMS microchannels can provide a simple, rapid and cheap way to fabricate non-contact micro electrodes for electroosmotic flow (EOF) pumps.In this study, a new EOF pump using liquid metal has been proposed and demonstrated.The EOF pump utilizes liquid-metal-filled PDMS microfluidic channels as electrodes.In this pump, a pair of electrode channels is located in parallel under both ends of pumping channels, and also vertical to the pumping channels.For injection convenience, each electrode channel is designed with inlet and outlet injection holes away from the pumping area.
