There are extensive reports on drug-metabolizing enzymes dysregulation in inflammatory diseases and the distinct regulatory effects of different cvtokines.The present study aimed to depict the changes of intestinal UDP-glucuronosyltransferases (UGTs) in experimental colitis induced by dextran sulfate sodium (DSS) in the rat and identify the involvement of gut dysbiosis on UGTs dysregulation.Oral administration of 5% DSS in drinking water for 7 days resulted in overall elevation of mRNA expression of UGT 1A1, 1A6, 1A7 and 1A9 along the small intestine, except for decreases of UGT1A7 in ileum and UGT1A9 in jejunum.The dysregulation of UGTs were accompanied with down-regulation of expression of nuclear receptors PXR and CAR in small intestine as well as altered microbial balance and shifted immune status.
