Hyperplastic polyps and adenomatous polyps are the most common types in colon polyps. There are large difference between hyperplatic polyps and adenomatous polyps, the latter has been considered as lesion with malignant potential, especially villous adenoma and mixed cell adenoma.Until now, littler difference between hyperplastic ones and adenomatous ones in colonoscopy was pointed out.The author investigated colonoscopy images and histopathology of 626 patients who had accepted the colonoscopy examination and were diagnosed as colon polypus. The colon specimens were composed of 412 hyperplastic polyps and 214 adenomatous polypus by histopathology examination. The latter were divided into tubular adenoma, villous adenoma and missed cell adenoma. We find that there are white spots around some polyps. We showed a significant association between white spots and adenoma (P =0.000).Hence,these findings indicate that white spot around polyps is the mark of adenoma, but not every adenoma has white spot around it.
