In the construction of structural brain network based on regional gray matter volume(RGMV),normally, the raw image of subjects has to be registered into the standard space and followed by volume compensation.Whether there will be differences in alterations of normal aging if the RGMV was measured in the native space is deserved to be explored.Individual Brain Atlas Statistical Parametric Mapping(IBASPM)is the toolkit which can realize individualization of brain atlas, individual atlas-based segmentation and volumetry in a fully automatic work stream. Therefore,IBASPM was involved to measure the RGMV in the native space and then structural brain networks were built for the normal aging(age range: 60+)and the control group(age range: 18-29)to verify the new approach.Compared with the younger group,RGMVs varied in the elder group mostly in association and multimodal association cortex. And the reduced small-worldness,nodal betweenness centrality and modularity in elder group implied the degeneration in the brain mechanism.Nevertheless, increase and decrease happened in intra-/inter-module connectivitiesimply the attempt to maintain the optimal situation potentially. Our findings indicated that structural brain network constructed based on the original RGMV may provide a new point of view to study brain in normal operation pattern as well as psychiatric disorders.
