We present our recent investigations on the antiproliferative effects of three herbs, Ganoderma lucidum, Scutellaria baicalensis, and capsaicin, against cancers, especially hematological malignancies in vitro and in vivo.S.baicalensis inhibited the growth of ALL, lymphoma, and myeloma cell lines by inducing apoptosis and cell cycle arrest resulting in mitochondrial damage, modulation of Bcl family of genes, increased levels of CDK inhibitor p27 Kipl, and decreased levels of c-myc oncogene.Further studies confirmed that baicalin was the major anticancer component of S.baicalensis.
