Gold nanoparticles(AuNPs)are of great interest due to applications in catalysis,anti-bacterial potential,biosensors,imaging techniques and more1-3.The potential applications of AuNPs are greatly dependant on the size of the nanoparticles,and hence their reactivity,as well as the capping agent and functional groups attached to the AuNPs2,4.Though much success has been achieved producing small nanoparticles with tightly controlled size using thiol capping,the attachment of thiols is often too strong to remove,and thus applications are limited with particles produced in such a way.
