Purpose:Radiotherapy has been increasingly adopted in clinical practice for tumor treatment.FDS Team has been focused on the key physical and technical issues of accurate radiotherapy for many years. An integrated Accurate/Advanced Radiotherapy System(ARTS)was developed, which consists of Intensity Modulated accurate Radiotherapy system(ARTS-IMRT),Image-Guided accurate Radiotherapy system(ARTS-IGRT),Dose-Guided accurate Radiotherapy system(ARTS-DGRT),and Adaptive Radiotherapy system(ARTS-ART).ARTS-IMRT has been verified and validated by large number of tests and was introduced in this paper.Methods:ARTS-IMRT combined the latest visualization technology, user interaction techniques, supporting fast dose calculation and intensity-modulated treatment plan design. The dose distribution in human body could be calculated rapidly combined the Monte Carlo Finite-size Pencil Beam(MCFSPB)method and improved Batho tissue inhomogeneity correction. The inverse planning optimization in ARTSIMRT consisted of not only intensity map optimization, but also direct aperture optimization, which separated the optimization of shape and weight for each segment into independent problems by using Genetic Algorithm and Conjugate Gradient Algorithm,respectively.Results:ARTS-IMRT system has been tested the cases in AAPM Task Group. In addition,it has passed through the YY0637-2013 safety test and the national YY/T 0889-2013 standard test. The results showed that the inverse optimization method in ARTS-IMRT could provide the optimal treatment solution with a Gamma(3%/3mm)pass rate above 96%for multiple beams and 98%for a single beam, the deviation of the point dose calculation was within 3%.Conclusion:The results showed that ARTS-IMRT could be applied to the clinical practice, which would greatly promote the development of home-made industry for accurate/advanced radiotherapy.
