Nitrogen is the limiting nutrient in most marine ecosystem.Besides upwelling,atmospheric deposition plays an important role in supplying external nitrogen to fuel marine primary production.The East China Sea (ECS),adjacent to China,is one of the largest continental shelves in the world located at the northwestern edge of Pacific and under the influence of East Asia monsoon climate.
