1,3-cyclohexanedione (CHD), an important chemical intermediate, is widely used in the synthesis of pharmaceuticals, pesticides, cosmetics, and polymer additives.Among all the synthetic routines to CHD, the selective hydrogenation of resorcinol (RES) in an alkali solution and then neutralization with an acid is considered as the most effective industrial production method due to its simple reaction steps, high selectivity to CHD, and easy separation of the product [1].
