The purpose of the study was to review various terminologies related to the description of the thalamic nuclei, from the one provided by Dejerine and Roussy in 1906 to describe the Dejerine-Roussy syndrome up to the official Terminologia Anatomica issued by the Federative Committee on Anatomical Terminology (FICAT, 1998).A table comparing different nomenclatures shows the evolution of the terms used.As an example, we compared the atlas of Morel et al.
