The Earth is a single thermodynamic system that we sense through geophysical and geochemical means yielding disparate data that all too often we interpret one subset of in complete ignorance of the others resulting in a plethora of models.These models are sometimes complementary to one another,and other times are in conflict.Yet there is only one Earth!Since 2008 Afonso and Fullea have developed a methodological approach for modelling the lithospheric and sub-lithospheric mantle,initially in 2-D (Afonso et al.,2008) then in 3-D (Fullea et al.,2009,and,with Jones,included consideration of electrical conductivity (Fullea et al.,2011).
