Vascular remodeling, defined as any enduring change in the size and/or composition of an adult blood vessel, underlines the pathogenesis of major cardiovascular diseases.Cumulative studies have demonstrated that extracellular matrix (ECM) turnover play a critical role during vascular remodeling.Recently, we found a 524-kDa matricellular glycoprotein, cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP), pivotal for maintaining the homeostasis of VSMCs in vessels.
