The mango leaf-cutting weevil Deporaus marginatus Pascoe is one of the main pests to cause severe defoliation of Mangifera indica. Its range continues to expand, causing significant mango yield losses in southern China.Electroantennogram(EAG)was employed to record the electrophysiological responses of both sexes of Deporaus marginatus Pascoe adults exposed to 10 volatiles from mango tree at different concentrations(0.01,0.1,1.0,10 g·L-1).The results showed that the maximum EAG values were found at the concentration of 0.1g·L-1 [(1R)-(+)-α-pinene,α-farnesene] or at 1.0 g·L-1(α-terpinene,α-phellandrene,β-carypohyllene,β-myrcene,terpinolene,e-2-hexen-1-al,aromadendrene,valencene).The ten volatiles at the concentration of 1.0 g·L-1 resulted in more than 100%EAG relative value in male. For female,at the concentration of 1.0 g·L-1 the maximum of relative EAG response values was found for seven volatiles and for α-farnesene(125.65%),terpinolene(103.00%),and β-myrcene(119.51%),more than 100%values in relative EAG response were found.Significantly differences in relative EAG values between males and females were only found in terpinolene at the concentration of 10 g·L-1(P<0.05).Our studies will provide an scientific basis for clarifying host selection mechanisms and helping control D.marginatus from the point of view of chemical signalling.
