Brominated flame retardants (BFRs) have been widely used for the purpose of providing flame retardancy.However, the potential environmental problems have been great concern in recent years due to their persistence, bioaccumulations, and adverse effects to ecosystem and human beings health.As the third highly used BFRs in the world, hexabromocyclododecanes (HBCDs) are currently assessment for inclusion in the POPs list of Stockholm Convention.Recently, a novel BFR Tris (2,3-dibromopropyl) isocyanurate (TBC) with potential characteristics of POPs, such as high thermal stability, potential to accumulate in the organism, was firstly found in the environment (1).
