During the past 100 years, the earth has experienced significant climate change, especially warming. The mean air temperature has increased about 0.74 Csince 100 years ago, and it is expected to rise about2.0-5.4 C with increasing frequency of extremeclimate events by 2100. Meanwhile, global populationhas significantly increased and will remain to do soat a high rate, and it is predicted that the world will need 70% more food by 2050. Previous studies showed that climate change might tremendously affect global food security through influencing crop yield and leading to a change in its spatial distribution.Since most of these quantitative evaluations of warming impacts were based on crop model projection and historical data analysis, great uncertainties remain due to the unclear understanding of the actual responses and contributions of cropping systems to climate change.
