The purpose of this work is to study the dynamic impact response and the possible damage patterns of a specific ultra-light aircraft with composite wing structure. The wing structure is consisted of a number of circular hollow tubes made of Al6061-T6 alloy, connecting plates & fasteners, stainless steel cables and polyester sail made of glass fiber or graphite fiber.Initially, the energy absoption of a circular metallic hollow tube was numerically determined using the commercial finite element code-LS-Dyna3d, and then compared the simulated finding with the analytic solution given by Norman Jones.
