Until the late 18th century, Chinese culture in its various dimensions was exported extensively to the rest of the world.The only prior major foreign cultural import from abroad was Buddhism.Chinas economic influence abroad was increasingly powerful as well.From the 16th through the 18th centuries, Chinese economic and cultural exports far exceeded its imports.By the mid-20th century this situation was completely reversed, as there was little export of Chinese culture and minor economic influence but Western cultural and economic imports were far-reaching and vast.The influence of Western culture was profound in every sphere.By the end of the 20th century, the situation had again chanced greatly.China had become a creditor nation on a large scale, and its economic exports had become extensive, similar the situation from the 16th through the 18th centuries.Cultural exports, however, remain relatively meager.In this 21st century, how will this situation develop? What is the likely influence of Chinese culture on the world?What aspects of Chinese culture would most benefit the world?
