Natural product synthesis has played a prominent role in the development of the field of organic chemistry by providing a challenging platform for the discovery and invention of new synthetic strategies and methods,which is one of the central issues in modern organic synthesis.With our interest in the synthesis of structurally interesting and biologically active natural products,we recently selected some Apocynaceae alkaloids bearing a densely functionalized hydrocarbazole scaffold as the targets for our synthesis design.Driven by the asymmetric catalytic construction of multi-functionalized tricyclic hydrocarbazole nucleus with a crucial all-carbon quaternary stereocenter embedded in a series of Apocynaceae alkaloids,an unprecedented asymmetric catalytic tandem reaction of para-dienones has been designed and developed through organocatalytic enantioselective desymmetrization.Based on this key tandem methodology,a unified strategy has been divergently explored for the asymmetric synthesis of natural Apocynaceae alkaloids,(+)-deethylibophyllidine,(+)-limaspermidine and(+)-1-acetylaspidoalbidine.Some details on our preliminary studies on this topic will be discussed in this presentation.
