Water resources are increasing in scarcity globally due to demands of an exponentially increasing human population.Climate change is further exacerbating the natural variability in the timing and distribution of precipitation patterns.However,a major driver of water scarcity is the non-integrated management of scarce water resources for irrigation,drinking water supply,flood control,hydroelectric power generation,wastewater disposal,and fisheries.
